A Perfect Natural Deodorant That Smells Like Lime, Lavender, Ylang-Ylang. Schmidt's Natural Deodorants Review!

SCHMIDT'S NATURAL DEODORANTS

It seems as though everyone who is interested in using toxic-free products is in the market for a natural deodorant that actually works and works well.  Because everyone's body chemistry is different, it's honestly just a matter of trial and error.  What works perfectly for you, might make your friend smell like she's been doing aerobics.   In leather.   In Death Valley.   All day long.

When Mia of Schmidt's Natural Deodorant contacted me, I was really interested because their products looked very cool, simple and modern.  I was also drawn to the number of scents they had, but being that I have hyperhydrosis and my temperature gauge is a little off, I know that many deodorants don't work for me.  But because I know how much we'd all love to find the Holy Grail of deodorants, I was willing to take one for the team.  ;)

SO HOW EFFECTIVE WAS IT?

Well, very.  I wore this for several days in a row in 90 degree heat in NYC.  I also wore it to my Pilates class yesterday (a Pilates class where the owner has an issue with turning on the A/C, apparently) and many walking trips across town.  I detected nothing unpleasant.  And, after coming home and cooling down, there still was nothing there.  Very cool.
Now, one of the main ingredients in this deodorant is baking soda.  Some people have issues with baking soda, many do not.  I've used other deodorants with baking soda that have irritated my skin.  Schmidt's did not.  In fact, it felt great going on...not grainy like others.  One thing is that my body chemistry turns body powders and baking soda yellow on white fabrics.  It comes out in the wash, but I chose to only wear darks while testing since I know that about my body.

THE SCENTS!

I love the fact that this brand has so many scents.  I've listed them below with a few words that I would use to describe them:

Ylang-Ylang + Calendula: calming, pretty, can't stop sniffing this, fresh

Cedarwood + Juniper:  slightly woodsy, relaxing, gorgeous
Bergamot + Lime: bright citrus, very limey, perfect for summer, clean
Lavender + Sage:  pretty, light, subtle floral/lavender
Fragrance-Free:  natural

HOW IS IT USED?

The deodorant is a solid cream and comes with a little spatula to remove the product, but you can also use your fingers.  Granted, some people like having their deodorant in a container that they can just swipe across their pits, but honestly, this is a natural product and I didn't mind it at all.  In fact, I'm thrilled to know that it's toxic-free and that the glass container can be re-used when you're finished.  You only have to apply a pea-sized amount, which also makes the $8 price a steal.

  1. mmmmm I would love to try the lavender & sage deodorant! I need to try a new deodorant because I work outside all day in the hot sun farming, come home and go to the gym and sweat.. and sometimes have to do it all over again the next day...without having the chance to shower. I've tried many different natural deodorants and haven't been in love with any. Thanks for the opportunity!

    1. Good choice! Farming? Oh, in my next life. I looooove the idea of growing my own food, but in NYC, it's sorta limited...but not totally! Thanks for reading. K

  2. I would love to try the bergamot lime for myself and the natural for my husband. He thinks Im just a crazy hippie now that I explore the 'natural' deodorants, and have had poor luck finding one that works! He nearly burns rubber running in the opposite direction when I buy a new one to try and ask him. " Honey, can you sniff my armpit and tell me if you smell anything?" lol I guess that isn't really romantic, but who else am I going to ask?! ;-) I wanna prove that there is SOMETHING out there that can work on him AND me so we can be stink-free and enjoy snuggling in each others' armpits during those gorgeous summer nights yet to come. ;-)

  3. I would love to try the ylang-ylang calendula scent. I have tried so many natural deodorants and most do not work at all for me. The ones that do? Irritate :( Also, I live in Oklahoma and our summers are HOT! I would love to put Schmidt's to the test.... I need Schmidt's pits!!!

  4. cedarwood and juniper sounds divine! But so do all of them lol! I need a new deodorant because a) I have resorted to just splashing esential oils under my arm pits before I run out the door, elevating my crunchy mom status to new levels and b) my two year old was cuddling me and said "mom stinky" so there yah go. I stink.

  6. I would love the Cedarwood + Juniper because it's currently 95 degrees in my no-AC apartment in Seattle, and I've had to resort to using Mitchum to battle this heat, and my poor lil' pits are dry, yes, but also crying out to me to save them from the chemically hell I've put them through. Save my pits!

  7. All the scents sound truly divine, so picking just one is a challenge. Over time I would love to try them all but would probably want to start with the Bergamot and lime since it's a bright citrus, very limey, and perfect for hot summer days. I am in the process of converting all of my bath and beauty products over to clean, chemical and toxin free alternatives. I've read several glowing reviews about Schmidt's natural deodorants, including this one on the Green product junkie blog, and I am dying to try the line as it sounds like the best natural deodorant on the market. I am sure the Schmidt's natural deodorant will win me over and become a daily, staple in my daily beauty regimen. My fingers and toes are crossed that I win!

Yes, it's a fantastic scent, but oddly enough, they all are. Usually, there's one I like less or more, but really, I'm hooked! Thanks for entering! Katie

  10. I'd love the bergamot + lime! I live in Florida and basically stepping out of the shower means I start to sweat immediately! My current natural deodorant is not cutting it but I refuse to go back to conventional deodorant!

  11. I would love to win the ylang-ylang and calendula scent! I'm a broke college student in northern California, and I've been trying to switch to more natural deodorants and nothing just works. :( I'm always on-the-go, and I also need something to get me through pilates. I'd be so happy if this new product can be my new holy-grail product so I can have a peace of mind. :) - angelilee91@gmail.com
